NBA Live 18: Game Play Sliders – Oct 2017 – Updated 10/06

Image104

I’ve been experimenting for the last few weeks, turning up all sliders to 100, and then all the zero and tuning them, these current ones are the ones that I tuned from 100-0, and I think they work out pretty fine in terms of overall game play balance vs the CPU and flow of the game. Don’t be skeptical about having the shooting higher than 50, shot contests and shot blocking ensure that its balanced, in games that I’ve played. You can always adjust.

*UPDATED: 10/06 after the patch.

I’ve noticed that some of the sliders affect CPU tendencies, so I tried to make adjustments so that they run the offense their more balanced. When they attack the rim they pass out more after collapsing the defense. I’ve noticed a lot more passing plays happening by the CPU with these. The shooting percentages might be a bit high, but I think overall flow is better. I’ll still be testing on reducing percentages, but the games have been fun, and that’s all I care about at the moment. Check below for the Cavs vs Celtics game.

Minutes: 6-8 Minute Quarters
Auto Subs: On
Difficulty: All Star
Game Speed: 81

USER/CPU are the same unless stated otherwise

Inside shooting: 60/30
Med Range: 60
Three-point shooting: 50
Free throw: 50
Post shooting: 50
Lay up: 100
Post move: 90
Dunk Frequency: 90
Reach in Fouls: 0/10*
Jump Shot Fouls: 50
Post Shot Fouls: 50
Lay Up Fouls: 50
Dunk Fouls: 50
Offensive Air: 100
Offensive Ground: 100
Defensive Air: 100
Defensive Ground: 100
Steal Success: 50
Alley-Oop: 50
Shots off Dribble: 70
Shot Contest: 80
Shot Blocking: 60
Offensive Rebounding: 10/0
Off-Ball Push: 100
Off-Ball Jostle: 100
Jostle vs Blow-by: 50
Dribble Move: 50

*My reason for putting reach-in fouls to zero is because it causes a handicap on defense, they don’t want you to reach in the game, and when you do, they punish you for trying to steal the ball, even when the ball is right in front of you for the taking. I believe it needs to be fixed, when you turn it down to zero, you can crowd the defender, just like how you can in Live Run. If you feel it’s wrong, turn down the steal sliders below 50, if you reach, you can still get caught out of position. Best way to play defense use the right stick while you move and follow the arrow (at your feet) to slow down the offensive player.

Here’s the shot chart from the game played between the Pacers and Hawks: CPU is the Hawks, they shot 41% with these sliders. The dev team, you can tell, is trying to fix the CPU heading for the paint glitch, there has been a lot of mid-range jumpers being taken now by the CPU.

HAWKS vs PACERS GAME PLAY: Old game play

CELTICS vs CAVS GAME PLAY: POST PATCH UPDATE -10/06

Here’s a recent shot chart with the CPU taking mid-range jumpers with the new sliders

NHL 18: Realism Sliders October 2017

October 2, 2017 Leave a comment

EA SPORTS™ NHL® 18 (2)

Purpose:

  • Trying to mimic real pace of the NHL, not just “Run & Gun” style of the “NEW NHL”
  • Allows user/CPU to be more disciplined on defense, might result in less penalties (unless you turn them sliders up). If you beat the CPU it will force them to either catch up or take a penalty.
  • Passing more challenging, pass reception based on how you receive the puck determines success more
  • Strategy based game play for user and CPU
  • More blocked shots
  • No CPU advantage “Ice Tilt” as most call it, with the game play set to 0/6, the CPU will have to be more strategic rather than just run you over for the puck
  • You can’t beat the CPU with speed all the time, so if you’re on the PP, you will have to respect the offense, and play more disciplined defense to clear the puck out
  • To shorten the amount of shots (around 30) for longer periods (8-10 minute periods)

Also, if you don’t like the speed of the game, do not touch the overall game speed, adjust the skating speed and acceleration only.

Sliders are the same for both CPU and USER unless stated otherwise. No handicap allowed with my sliders unless it seems unbalanced.

NBA Live 18 – EA PLAY Saturday & Sunday Raw Hands-On Impressions

Saturday: Just some thoughts right after Saturday’s event of EA Play, talking about the new in NBA Live 18. I was tired, but the first impressions are fresh and not scripted. I’m talking about dribbling, camera angles, sliders, game speed and more.

NBA Live 18 – Saturday Hands-On Raw Impressions – WOW moments

Sunday: My second day with the game, I was more in depth on Sunday of the show. I did not talk about rebounding, but the animations were a lot better, still needed some cleaning up but overall, I was impressed with the rebounds. This video I’m talking about playing on different difficulties and slider setting in NBA Live 18.

Game play to me feels beautiful with these adjustments versus the CPU. Pro settings, click below for the game play video on my YouTube channel.
