NBA Live 18: Roster Editing and Saves Now Available

December 7, 2017 Leave a comment

Roster editing is now available in NBA Live 18. Today’s patch gives us old school type mechanics to edit player ratings, accessories, manage rosters including player rotations, minutes and gives us access to the free agent pool. You can also create up to 135 players. This is huge for the NBA Live community as most of us who have been playing since NBA Live 14 begged for this feature.

I’m going to do a lot of tests on the ratings to see how it truly impacts the overall flow of game play. Check the video below, Maxed out ratings for the Pacers and Rockets, we can finally dig deep more in NBA LIVE, and yeah, these DEVS LISTEN TO THE COMMUNITY.

NBA Live 18: Realism Sliders – Nov 2017 (8-12 min Quarters)

October 31, 2017 Leave a comment

What’s up people, it’s that time for the NBA Live 18 November 2017 sliders. With these sliders, I tried to get the CPU to play more methodical and attack less so that playing longer quarters can result in realistic numbers. I believe the “OFF THE DRIBBLE” slider for the CPU is the reason why the CPU constantly attacked the paint all the time, so that’s the reason I turned it down to 20. I’ve tried it on 30-40 but I didn’t like the results. While the CPU will look to score in the paint and also attacking the rim still, they will look at other opportunities on the drive. You will also have to adjust match ups and defensive pressure with these sliders, you might have to put a big defender on CP3 if he’s torching you just to slow him down. If you don’t have a superstar on your team, you may struggle down the stretch also, but you should like challenges. Overall, I think these are the best sliders I have done since the game came out, mainly because I can play longer quarters without getting mad about high shooting percentages, pace is also much more realistic.

*If you want more fouls called just turn up the sliders to your liking. I have reach in fouls set to 0 because I have the automatic fouls, they need to get rid of that. Turning off the reach in fouls (also steal slider) allows you to crowd the offensive player, but if you reach too much, you can get beat off the dribble, I just prefer it that way*

NBA Live 18: Game Play Sliders – Oct 2017 – Updated 10/06

October 2, 2017 Leave a comment

I’ve been experimenting for the last few weeks, turning up all sliders to 100, and then all the zero and tuning them, these current ones are the ones that I tuned from 100-0, and I think they work out pretty fine in terms of overall game play balance vs the CPU and flow of the game. Don’t be skeptical about having the shooting higher than 50, shot contests and shot blocking ensure that its balanced, in games that I’ve played. You can always adjust.

*UPDATED: 10/06 after the patch.

I’ve noticed that some of the sliders affect CPU tendencies, so I tried to make adjustments so that they run the offense their more balanced. When they attack the rim they pass out more after collapsing the defense. I’ve noticed a lot more passing plays happening by the CPU with these. The shooting percentages might be a bit high, but I think overall flow is better. I’ll still be testing on reducing percentages, but the games have been fun, and that’s all I care about at the moment. Check below for the Cavs vs Celtics game.

Minutes: 6-8 Minute Quarters
Auto Subs: On
Difficulty: All Star
Game Speed: 81

Inside shooting: 60/30
Med Range: 60
Three-point shooting: 50

Post shooting: 50

Post move: 90
Dunk Frequency: 90
Reach in Fouls: 0/10*
Jump Shot Fouls: 50
Post Shot Fouls: 50
Lay Up Fouls: 50
Dunk Fouls: 50
Offensive Air: 100
Offensive Ground: 100
Defensive Air: 100
Defensive Ground: 100
Steal Success: 50
Alley-Oop: 50
Shots off Dribble: 70
Shot Contest: 80

Offensive Rebounding: 10/0
Off-Ball Push: 100
Off-Ball Jostle: 100
Jostle vs Blow-by: 50
Dribble Move: 50

*My reason for putting reach-in fouls to zero is because it causes a handicap on defense, they don’t want you to reach in the game, and when you do, they punish you for trying to steal the ball, even when the ball is right in front of you for the taking. I believe it needs to be fixed, when you turn it down to zero, you can crowd the defender, just like how you can in Live Run. If you feel it’s wrong, turn down the steal sliders below 50, if you reach, you can still get caught out of position. Best way to play defense use the right stick while you move and follow the arrow (at your feet) to slow down the offensive player.

Here’s the shot chart from the game played between the Pacers and Hawks: CPU is the Hawks, they shot 41% with these sliders. The dev team, you can tell, is trying to fix the CPU heading for the paint glitch, there has been a lot of mid-range jumpers being taken now by the CPU.

Here’s a recent shot chart with the CPU taking mid-range jumpers with the new sliders
